An Ounce of Home- Redefining the Word “Home”

You’re embarking on a yearlong round-the-world adventure, and can take only one small object with you to remind you of home. What do you bring along for the trip?

A photograph of my family would be the most suitable thing for the job, it is thin and easy to store (specially digitally), and it defines the true meaning iof home. Home is a place where we come from, where we belong to and will always be welcomed. A home is not a building with people living together under it, it is the sanctuary, place where comfort, honesty, growth comes from.

For a lot of people living in unhealthy family, home is everything contrary to the definition above, it is an uncomfortable place, full of shouting, physical abuse, and mental abuse. A lot of child lives under such circumstances and grow to be the next abuser, although some find their own way in the right path. Statistics shows that children living in abusive environment have bigger chance statistically to be abuser him/herself in the future.

It is the primary function of family to educate, nurture, and help children to grow and become an independent self. But ironically, not few family failed to do so, even some families put a negative mind set into a child and limits their future growth.

How do you define “home” ?
