Key Points from Book: Unlimited Power

Who you know, where you go, and what you own are not the true measure of personal success

The ultimate power is the ability to produce the results you desire most and create value for others in the process

Knowledge is only potential power until it comes into the hands of someone who knows hiw to get himself to take effective action

Your level of communication mastery in the external world will determine your level of success with others

We can change our mental and physical actions and thereby immediately change our emotions and behaviors

For every disciplined effort there is a multiple reward-Jim Rohn

People can do virtually anything as long as they muster the resources to believe they can and to take effective actions

7 triggering mechanism for success:
Passion
Belief
Strategy
Clarity of values
Energy
Bonding power
Mastery of communication

Success is simple. First decide what you want specifically, and second, decide you are willing to pay the price to make it happen and then pay that price

It’s a funny thing about life, if you refuse to accept anything but the best, you are often get it-W. Somerset Maugham

Things do not change, we change- Henry David Thoreau

The mind and body are totally linked. The way you use your physiology, the way you breathe and hold your body, your posture, facial expressions, the nature and quality of your movements, actually determine the range amd quality of the behavior you are aboe to produce

Modeling is the fastest way to learn

If all behavior is the result of the state we are in, we may produce different communications and behaviors when we are in resourceful states than we will when we are in an unresourceful one

Our beliefs, attitudes, values, and past experiences with the particular person all affect the kinds if representations we will make about their behaviors

Since we don’t know how things really are, but only how we represent them to ourselves, why not represent them in a way that empowers ourselves and others, rather than creating limitations

It is critical to focus in life on what we want versus what we don’t want

The kind of behavior people produce is the result of the state they are in. How they specifically respond out of what that state is based on their models of the world

When we congruently believe something is true, it is like delivering a command to our brain as to how ro represent what is occuring. The trick is to choose the beliefs that are conducive to success and the results you wanr and to discard the ones that hold you back

Success feeds on success and generates more success, and each success creates more belief and momentum to succeed on an even higher scale

The mind is its own place, and in it self can make a heav’n of hell, a hell of heav’n

Seven lies of success:
Everything happens for a reason and a purpose, and it serves us. It takes a lot of discipline to be able to retrace your steps, learn painful lessons, mend fences, and take a good look at new possibilities
There is no such thing as failure. There are only results. The supper successes of our culture aren’t people who do not fail, but simply people who know that if they try something and it doesn’t give what hey want, they’ve had a learning experience. You always produce a result. If it’s not the one you desire, you can change your actions, and you’ll produce new results
Whatever happens, take responsibility. Another attribute great leaders and achievers have in commin is that they operate from the belief that they create their world
It’s nit necessary to understand everything to be able to use everything. Successful people are especially good at making distinction between what is necessary for them to understand and what is not
People are your greatest resource. The companies that succeeded were the ones that treated people with respect and with dignity, the companies that viewed their employees as partners, not as tools
Work is play. The secret of success is making your vocation your vacation-Mark Twain
There is no abiding success without commitment.

Once we discover the different ways we represent things and how they affect us, we can take charge of our own mind and begin represent things in a way that empowers rather than limits us

All human behavior is the result of the state we are in, and that our states are created by our internal representations, the things we picture, say to ourselves

Imagine your problem or bad memories shrinking, going far away to lessened the effect

Swish pattern:
Identify the behavior you want to change
Once you have a clear picture of the behavior you want to change, you need to create a different representation, a picture of yourself as you would be if you made the desired change and what that change would mean to you
Swish the two pictures so thay the unresourceful experience automatically triggers the resourceful experience

Our brain tends to move away from unpleasant things and toward pleasant ones

Successful people know how to turn up the volume of the things that help them and turn off the things that don’t

If I continue to represent things to myself this way, what will likely be the final result in my life?

Tell lies, then tell truth. People will associate the lies as truth

If you program the commands in the right order, the computer will use all its capabilities and produce the result you desire. If you program the correct commands in a different order, you will nit get the outcome you wish

We have strategies for everything, representational patterns that consistently produce specific outcomes. Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic. Internal, external

Visual people tend to speak quickly, because they are trying to keep up with the pictures in their brain

To be effective, a slaesman must take his clients back to a time when they bought something they loved. He has to find out what caused them to decide to buy it

The way to elicit a strategy is to get him to go into the state you want, and then, while he’s there, find out what he did fo create and maintain the state

If you would be powerful, pretend to be powerful

If you change your physiology, that is your posture, breathing patterns, muscle tension, tonality, you instantly change your internal representations and your state

Congruent states are what we all want to move toward and the biggest step you can take is to be sure you are in a firm, decisive, congruent physiology. If your words and your body don’t match up, you are nor going to be totally effective

Start consciously modelling the physiology of people you respect or admire. You will begin to create the same states that they experience

Deep breathing is the key to increase the level of your body health. Inhale 4s, hold 16s, exhale 8s

Eat water rich foods

Some foods should not be eaten with others. Eat Carbohydrates alone, protein alone, fruit should be eaten with empty stomach

Eat a little. That way you’ll be around long enough to eat a lot

Eat less or very little protein. It is the last thing your body use for it’s metabolism

There is only one success, to be able ro spend your life in your own way-Christopher Morley

People are not lazy. They simply have impotent goals, that is, goals that do not inspire them-Anthony Robbins

Know what you want. The unconscious mind is constantly processing information in such a way to move us in particular directions

Goals setting:
State your outcome in positive terms
Be as specific as possible
Have an evidence procedure. Know how you will look, feel, see, and hear after you have achieved your outcome
Be in control. Make sure your outcome reflects things that you can affect directly
Verify your outcome is ecologically sound and desirable

Creating life you wanted:
Start by making an incentory of your dreams, the things you want to have, do, be, and share
Go over the list you made, estimating when you expect to reach those outcomes
If you can find enough reason to do something, you can get yourself to do anything
Focus in on times you used some of those resources most skillfully
Describe the persom you would have to be to attain your goals
Write down what prevents you from having the things you desire right now
Come up with some models, people you admired
Create your ideal day to achieve your goals

Good communicators aren’t interested in rationalizations of why something is going wrong. They want to find out how to do it right

Harmony tends to result from similarity

If you would win a man to your cause, first convince him that you are his sincere friend- Abraham Lincoln

Mirror another person’s physiology by his voice, tonality, phrasing, pitch, speed, pauses, volume. Posture, breathing patterns, eye contact, body languange, facial expression, hand gestures

To effectively communicate, we must realize that we are all different in the way we perceive the world and use this understanding as a guide ro our communication with others- Anthony robbins

Sometimes, by mirroring someone’s anger, you can enter his world so strongly that when you begin to relax, he begins to relax also

To find out which way people move, ask them what they want in a relationship, house, car, job, etc

What determine people approval? Is it from inside or outside?

A truly effective leader has to have a strong internal frame

The goal is not to overcome force, but to redirect it, not to meet force with force, but to align yourself with the force directed at you and guide it in a new direction

Without resistsnce there is no conflict. Use phrase: i appreciate and…. I respect and…

Confusion is one of the greates ways to interruot patterns

Respond intelligently even to unintelligent treatment- Lao Tsu

Artful reframes, changing people’s perception so that their new representstions about something put them in a state that makes them feel or act differently

Changing behavior:
Identify the pattern or behavior you wish to change
Establish communication with the part of your unconscious mind that generates the behavior
Separate intentiom from behavior
Creating alternative behaviors to satisfy intention
Have part x accept the new choices and the responsibility for generating them when needed
Make an ecological check. Ask if there are any parts that obejct to the negotiations that have just taken place

Someday I’ll probably look back and laugh at this. Why not look back and laugh at it now? It’s all a matter of perspective

For every disabling attitude, for every counterproductive behaviorl there’s an effective reframe. You don’t like something . Change it!

How do anchors get created? Whenever a person is in an intense state where the mind and body are strongly involved together and a specific stimulus is consistently and simultaneously provided at the peak of the state, the stimulus and the state become neurogically linked

For an anchor to be effective, when you provide the stimulus you must have the persom in a fully associated, congruent state, with his whole body fully involved
You must provide the stimulus at the peak of the experience
You should choose a unique stimulus
For an anchor to work, you must replicate it exactly

Key ingredient of success: the ability to eliminate from your own environment triggers that tend to put you in negative or unresourceful states, while installing positive one in yourself and in others

What you choose to do depends on what you place as your highest value at the time. So rather than saying it is bad to spend time on business and not your family or vice cersa, just discover what your values truly are. Then you’ll understand why you do certain things

If a man hasn’t discovered something that he will die for, he isn’t fit to live- Martin Luther King, Jr.

Learn to handle frustration, frustration can change positive attitude into a negative one

Don’t sweat the small stuff, and it’s all small stuff

Learn how to handle rejection. Success is buried on the other side of rejection

Learn to handle financial pressure. We all have positive debts. The best reason to have money is to be able to pay them back

You must learn to handle complacency. You’ve seen people who reach level of success and then stop. They start to get comfortable, and they lose what got them there in the first place

I use to think I was doing well because I was doing well compared with people I knew. Learn to judge yourself by your goals instead of by what your peers seem to be doing

Don’t major in minor things

Always give more than you expect to receive

There are two things to aim at in life, first, to get what you want, and after that, to enjoy it- Logan Pearsall Smith

If you can surround yourself with people who will never let you settle for less than you can be, you have the greatest gift anyone can hope for
