Frequent traveller will know how uncomfortable it is sitting on a long flight. It is boring, the chair is not comfortable, and the engine noise drives you crazy. But there’s a good news on how to make your trip productive and comfortable. Here’s mine:
1. Are you going to sleep or not?
If you are planning to sleep, then you’ll need a headset with noise cancelling capacity. Trust me on this, you Need it, I recommend Bose QC15 which probably is the best noise cancelling headphone at this time. Noise canccelling headphone require battery to activate it’s noise cancelling capability. You could use it only to filter external noise, which feels like sitting on a quiet room, or listen to your favorite music and try to sleep. The next thing you need is a travel pillow, you need to find the one match your style, if you have a long neck then you’ll need the one with high top. And if you are planning to use over-ear headphone, you want the pillow that doesn’t go higher than your jaw.
2. Why are you travelling?
Is it business or leisure? If you are on a business trip make sure you’ve all arranged before you board on the plane, who’ll pick you up? What’s your hotel? Schedule for today and tomorrow, local dining restaurant, etc. It gets easier when you are travelling for leisure, you needto plan it according to the duration of your flight. For flight more than 4 hours, I recommend you to bring not just an iPod, but also an iPad for watching movie. You could buy movie in the iTunes store directly in your iPad the night before, or even sync it via iTunes on your computer. Books is fun too! I bring it when I know I will be awake and the flight duration is less than 3 hours. You could toss it when you are finished or ship it to your house.
3. For music lover….
Make your playlist before or even on board to listen when you are arive. For example, I’m going to New York in the next 6 hours (yes this is true), so I had make a playlist titled “America” and include songs that I’d like to hear there, a lot of audiophile, not to mention Frank Sinatra, and Alicia Keys “Empire State of Mind”. You get the idea.
This is what I do the most while listening to music. I reflect on my life, how my life is turning to what I’m now and such. I like to make personal goals, a promise to myself, and cherised beautiful memories from photograph inside my iPad. It’s always lovely, remembering your mother nurture you when you were a child, or your dad scolding you for being naughty. Usually it reminds me of what really matters in life and going to the fundamental value of my life. You should try it sometimes.
That’s all I can share with you, what do you usually do? Please inspire me in the comment box, I would love to hear it!
